I found Ivan Mikesic 0
I’ve been researching our family tree and I found the ship manifest from Noah’s Great Great Grandfather’s journey to the U.S. ( I only had to read 127 pages of names).
In case you can’t read it: Ivan Mikesic was 15 years old when he boarded the S.S. Noordam on April 8, 1905 in Rotterdam. He could not read or write and had $7 on him.
I knew this was too easy 0
We’ve been going to meetings and making phone calls and completing forms for 4 months now and I thought we were about to wrap up this Gifted Placement thing. We chose a school and found an After School program we liked.
I called the school to set up an appointment with the Principal to sign the variance, he said I didn’t need an appointment… just come on in!
I set up an appointment to meet the teacher and the class… come on in!
Can someone please tell me why, in the midst of all the phone calls (and reschedules and voice mails) no one bothered to mention to me that THE SCHOOL IS FULL. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR NOAH IN THIS GIFTED CLASS.
Why on earth would I go through all this for a school that won’t take him? I could just scream. I think I will… AAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH! There, that’s better. No it isn’t. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
So, now what do we do? The school he’s zoned for doesn’t have a decent After School program. The YMCA program just drops them off at the baptist church, which is fodder for a post all by itself. And the private school he’s in doesn’t have a Gifted Program. Anybody else feel like screaming yet?
